On my way through San Francisco I decided to stop by an old haunt of mine. Just south of the Presidio, it's a locally owned coffee shop where I first heard the group Box Set Duo. The owner and I both recognized one another. A great spot with some wonderful memories.
Bicycle wheels hang like chandeliers in this Mill Valley Whole Foods Market. Seems appropriate given that this is where mountain biking was born.
The bathroom interior at a local taqueria in the Mission District of San Francisco. Just about every available space -- even the light bulb had some artistic expression to it. The food was great and the place was (despite the impression here) very clean. If you can beat it, why not allow it? It actually was quite beautiful.
There are likely thousands (millions?) of these Bunn coffee makers of various shapes and sizes in restaurants all over the US. I found this one in a small shop in Maine. What I love about it: Bill slapped a sticker on it so everyone could easily find him.
One of the last photos I took while visiting Charleston last week. Beautiful old brick buildings together with the narrow cobblestone alleys felt as if you had indeed stepped back in time.
Enjoying the local gossip at Marcy's Diner in Portland. The place has been around for over 60 years at the same location. There's something about going to these old, local establishments and the regulars that frequent them.
While going to a meeting in Damariscotta, ME I saw this scene on the water. It was a beautiful day to travel up the coast and images like this made it even more memorable.

Not a day goes by without someone trying to get my attention. I find it's easy to lose one's perspective from all the commotion and information that's out there.
Then without notice, something will catch my eye. It’s not big or dramatic -- perhaps just an object, situation or person. But, it changes the way I think for a moment. A lighthearted scene that has a simple, non-obvious allure to it. And like a child, I smile, laugh or just wonder in amazement.
As I get older, I’ve learned to look for and appreciate more situations like this. Simple pleasures from unexpected moments. I can’t think of a better way to see and enjoy the world.
